This is Homoerotic Knight Richard Puller von Hohenburg and his squire Anton Mätzler, drawn by Sabin Calvert! This is the 1st entry for the Homoerotic Homos From History Pin-Up Challenge.
Sabin adds: “This is Knight Richard Puller von Hohenburg and his squire Anton Mätzler, who in 1482 were said “to heretic” (the term for sodomy). They were burned at the stake in Zürich. The Knight Hohenburg was deemed the most famous sodomite of the middle ages by historians of the time.”ATTN: ARTISTS/ILLUSTRATORS/CARTOONISTS OF G+/Tumblr/Facebook/DeviantArt/Twitter/etc: it’s the Homoerotic Homos From History Pin-Up Challenge!

I love how I can open tumblr and there is this magical queer & trans positive space that is sprinkled with comics and metal.
I’m getting better at drawing hair… after two years. Still not there but I’m happier than I was. Next big problem area: HANDS
I am slowly beginning to clean up and color all the previous pages of my comic after my big computer meltdown. I think I’ve become a much better artist in this past year, especially after taking my first art class (from Josh Bayer, who is amazing). I cringe at many of the choices, mistakes, processes now changed… but I look at some of these drawings and am really happy with how they turned out. It’s been a difficult place to get to since I am filled with equally healthy doses of self-loathing, self-doubt and envy.
It’s hard when your value system is antithetical to the majority of the world. You are going to have to fight and you are not always going to win. You might be wrong, you will definitely be unpopular, but what you do is important. I often step back and say “What makes me so special?” - I can think of dozens, if not hundreds of artists who have not and are not getting their dues (cough cough tom cough neely) who have way more talent and way more work than I do. But you can only measure yourself against yourself. To have grown as an artist makes the journey worth it. For anyone.
Thanks for reading to everyone who has been following Symptom of the Universe! The second chapter is almost done and soon you will get to meet the author herself in chapter 3!
I don’t usually post stuff from my day job but this one was just so comicky I couldn’t resist!
I was making all the pictures for the characters page of Symptom of the Universe and really liked this close up. Sometimes I want to print my comics huge… even bigger than I draw them!!!
I also got this about a nun secret agent revenge assassin. By Charles Dixon and Judith Hunt. The art is OK but the colors are beautiful!
